The Background

The store had recently been taken over by new (and super awesome) owners. They were doing a small amount of sales online. However, the website was not easy to manage, not representative of the high-quality in-store brand and did not provide certain shipping options such as “pick up in store.” We walked into the store to ask if we could help. Thankfully, Russ and Cheryl obliged.

The Process

Like all of our projects, this one started with our team asking a ton of questions. We can’t help if we don’t fully understand what the goals of the business are and how the online world can help meet those goals. After a couple meetings, we knew there were a few things we needed to do:

  1. Redesign the website on a clean, simple-to-use, high-converting E-commerce platform.

  2. Methodically evaluate each product to make sure the descriptions, pricing, images and shipping options were each correct (more about shipping in a minute). Ye Ole Sweet Shoppe already had product images that they didn’t want to change so we didn’t need to worry about product photography.

  3. Add new products that were not previously available in the online store.

  4. Refresh the logo so that it matched the actual brand a little more closely.

  5. Create some imagery and text content for the website.

  6. Create custom shipping options to allow for in-store pick-up, etc.

  7. Create a social media strategy.

  8. Create one video for Facebook so they could learn the process.

  9. Create training videos that the owners could reference when interacting with the website (a service we offer free of charge for all of our clients).


The Results

The entire project took approximately 12 weeks to complete. The qualitative result, as you can see below, is a much cleaner website. But what were the actual results:

  • Online store conversions increased by 400%.

  • Website traffic grew by 600% over the weeks following the mini social media campaign.

  • The store owners are able to continually and easily update the website to keep it fresh.

  • We are reminded regularly about the awesome treats at Ye Ole Sweet Shoppe.
